Azta’rec Guide: How to Beat Let Me Solo Him in Midnight Season 2
Azta’rec is the Delve nemesis of Midnight Season 2, and Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec asks you to kill him on Tier ?? with no other player in your party. We cleared it on an Arms Warrior at only 292 item level, so your gear is not what stands between you and the mount. The intermissions are. This page is the written version of that run: where to go, what we brought and how to get through all three memory phases.

| Achievement | Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec, Tier ?? with no other players in your party. Valeera can stay |
| Reward | Apophic Soul Crusher mount |

How to unlock Tier ??
Azta’rec has two nemesis difficulties. Tier ? opens once you finish a Tier 7 Delve with lives left, and Tier ?? opens the same way after a Tier 10 Delve. We also finished the island questline before our attempts. It is not needed to open the fight, but it rewards the Corrosive Victory toy, so it is worth a short detour.

This is the companion setup from our video. A healer player should switch Valeera to a damage role instead.

Main phase abilities
Outside the intermissions Azta’rec has a short list of abilities, and they stay the same for the whole fight.
- Soul Extinction. The one cast you can never miss. It deals around 2 million damage, which is a one-shot for almost anyone, so keep your interrupt for it.
- Noxious Bile. A frontal cone that leaves puddles behind. Step out of the cone, and try to leave the puddles where you will not need to run later.
- Void Toxin. A magic debuff with heavy damage over time that also cuts your damage by 40%. Get it dispelled.
- Venom Storm. Slimes spawn around the arena and travel in waves. Keep moving through the gaps while you stay on the boss.
Intermissions and SnakeSays
At 90%, 60% and 30% health Azta’rec splits the arena into four zones and starts a memory sequence. Only one zone is safe at a time, and each intermission asks you to remember a longer pattern.
| Boss health | Waves to survive |
|---|---|
| 90% | 5 |
| 60% | 6 |
| 30% | 7, plus the Echo of Azta’rec |
Install the SnakeSays addon before your first pull, because it makes this mechanic far easier to handle. Here is how we use it:
- Before the fight, mark each of the four zones so you can tell them apart at a glance.
- When an intermission starts, move into the safe zone.
- Click your current zone in SnakeSays.
- From there the addon tracks the pattern and tells you where to move next.
The mechanics do not change between intermissions, only the number of waves. As an Arms Warrior you can also Charge back to the boss during an intermission to reposition faster. Other classes should plan their own movement ability for the same moment.
Echo of Azta’rec
In the 30% intermission Azta’rec leaves behind a copy of himself. Kill it quickly, because it repeats his abilities while you are busy with the longest sequence of the fight. Watch the safe zone and mark it in SnakeSays as usual, and do not let the Echo finish its cast: either kill it first or interrupt it.
Pre-pull checklist
- You are alone in the party. Another player breaks the achievement, Valeera does not.
- SnakeSays is installed and all four zones are marked.
- Your interrupt is free and ready for Soul Extinction.
- Valeera is set to the right role.
- Flask, food and oil are on, potions are in your bags.
Azta’rec rewards
| Achievement | What it asks | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| My Venomous Nemesis | Defeat Azta’rec on the first nemesis tier | Apophic Patagia cosmetic |
| Purging the Poison | Defeat Azta’rec on Tier ?? | Title: the Poisonous |
| Let Me Solo Him: Azta’rec | Defeat Azta’rec on Tier ?? with no other players in your party | Apophic Soul Crusher mount |
The Fabled version of the achievement could only be earned in the first week, so it is out of reach now. The normal Let Me Solo Him stays open for the rest of Season 2.
Tank point of view
Our second video shows a full solo run on a Vengeance Demon Hunter, recorded for the Fabled achievement. It is a good way to watch the sequence again from another camera.

How do I unlock Azta'rec on Tier ??
Finish a Tier 10 Delve with lives left. Tier ? opens the same way after a Tier 7 Delve.
What item level do I need for Let Me Solo Him: Azta'rec?
We cleared it on an Arms Warrior at 292 item level, so you do not need the best gear of the season.
Do I need the SnakeSays addon?
We strongly recommend it. It tracks the safe zone pattern in the intermissions and tells you where to move, which makes the main mechanic much easier.

Three, at 90%, 60% and 30% health, with 5, 6 and 7 waves. The last one also adds the Echo of Azta'rec.

Yes. The achievement only fails if another player is in your party. We used Valeera as a healer.
