Demon hunters have the shortest list in the Mage Tower: two challenges, one for the tank spec and one for Havoc. Both reward the same recolor of the Demonbane Armor, so pick whichever spec you have a loadout for. Mobility makes this class comfortable in both fights, but damage windows are tight at level 90.
Recorded in an earlier patch. The mechanics are the same today, the talents have changed, so copy the approach and not the build.
Demon Hunter specs and their challenges
| Specialization | Challenge | You fight |
|---|---|---|
| Vengeance | The Highlord’s Return | Inquisitor Variss, then Highlord Kruul |
| Havoc | Closing the Eye | Archmage Xylem, then the Corrupting Shadows |
How each spec plays it
Vengeance: The Highlord’s Return
Disrupt covers Drain Life and later Twisted Reflection, and Sigil of Flame is a simple answer to the Tormenting Eyes because it is not physical. Sigil of Misery or Sigil of Silence buys time when Nether Horrors arrive. Keep Demon Spikes up for each Annihilate and stack Fiery Brand and Metamorphosis on the third and fourth.
Havoc: Closing the Eye
Fel Rush and Vengeful Retreat break you out of Razor Ice and carry you over the purple beams, which removes much of the damage other specs have to take. Save Disrupt for Draw Power once Xylem starts his second phase. Eye Beam and Blade Dance deal with the three Darkness Within adds when the last boss sends them to heal it.
